James Arthur "Jimmy" Haslam III (born March 9, 1954 in Knoxville , Tennessee ) is an American entrepreneur and owner of the American football team Cleveland Browns from the National Football League .

Career

Jimmy Haslam graduated from the University of Tennessee . He then worked from 1976 at the Pilot Flying J Corporation. In 1980 he became its vice-president. In 1996 he was promoted to CEO.

In 2008 it was announced that CVC Capital Partners had acquired 49.8% of the company. The Pilot Corporation is based in Knoxville , Tennessee .

In 2012, he took over the NFL franchise Cleveland Browns .
