Jimmy John’s is a franchise- based US American fast-food sandwich restaurant chain based in Champaign , Illinois . It was founded in 1983 by the then 19-year-old named Jimmy John Liautaud . The chain is majority owned by the Roark Capital Group .
The company is growing rapidly, with 875 branches in 2009 and over 1,800 in 2013. Sales broke the billion mark in 2011.

With the addition of gourmet sandwiches and, according to its own information, high-quality ingredients - instead of classic, soft sandwich breads, there are somewhat narrower and more elongated breads that resemble rather small baguettes - the company wants to differentiate itself from competitors such as Subway , but is at the same price level. The offer includes 25 sandwiches with a fixed composition of ingredients.
