Jimmy Richardson
James Robert "Jimmy" Richardson (born February 8, 1911 in Ashington , † August 28, 1964 ) was an English football player .
life and career
Richardson began his career with the Blyth Spartans of Blyth . In April 1928 the Englishman moved to Newcastle United . The debut for the Magpies was on September 4, 1929 against the Blackburn Rovers . In 1932 the striker won the English Cup with Newcastle United. Two years later he signed a contract with Huddersfield Town , which he remained loyal to until 1937, the transfer fee for Richardson was 4,000 pounds. In 1937, Richardson returned to Newcastle United for 14 games. From 1937 to 1946 he was (also interrupted by the Second World War), under contract with Millwall FC . In 1947 he ended his career at Leyton Orient . Internationally, he played twice for the English national football team and scored two goals. Richardson was allowed to play against Italy and Switzerland . He died in March 1964 at the age of 53. In 2003, his winning medal from the 1932 Cup was auctioned off at Christie's for € 9,500.
