João Leite da Silva Neto
João Leite da Silva Neto , called João Leite , (born October 13, 1955 in Belo Horizonte ) is a former Brazilian football goalkeeper and politician.
Sports career
He began his career at Atlético Mineiro and made five senior internationals for Brazil . For Brazil he took part in the Mundialito 1980/81 as a regular goalkeeper.
Political career
After playing sport, Silva Neto embarked on a political career and was from January 1, 1993 to December 16, 1994 city councilor of Belo Horizonte, the capital of the state of Minas Gerais . Local politics followed state politics. After the 1995 elections, he won the mandate as a member of the Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) in the Legislative Assembly (ALMG) and has been re-elected six times so far.
In the local elections in 2016, he was put up as a candidate for the mayor of Belo Horizonte, but with 557,356 votes (47.02%) in the second ballot only came second.
