João Nogueira

João Nogueira (born November 12, 1941 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil , † June 5, 2000 ibid) was a Brazilian singer and composer. Since the beginning of his career he was known for the characteristic swing in his sambas .

Life

As the son of the lawyer and musician Batista Nogueira and brother of the composer Gisa Nogueira, João came into contact with music from all over the world at an early age. He soon began to learn to play the guitar, played in a choro band and got in touch with the Portela samba school, where he was successful with sambas. He founded the Club do Samba , a meeting place for all of Rio's Sambistas, in his home boutique, Meier . He is one of the representatives of the Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) of the Brazilian southeast.

Well-known Brazilian singers such as Elis Regina , Clara Nunes , Emílio Santiago , Beth Carvalho and Alcione sang songs composed by him. He is the father of the singer and composer Diogo Nogueira .
