Joachim B. Schmidt

Joachim Beat Schmidt (* 1981 in Thusis ) is a Swiss journalist and writer .

Life

Schmidt grew up as the son of a farmer on Heinzenberg in Cazis and trained as a qualified structural draftsman . He worked as a journalist, farmhand, gardener, dry mason, waiter, assistant cook, dairy worker and receptionist. In 2010 he won the writing competition “Grosse Sehnsuchtschrift” by Blick am Abend and Thalia , in which almost 3,500 people took part, with the short story Stoffel Waits . The short story was published in spring 2011 in an anthology published by the Landverlag. In 2013 he published the novel Near the Coast in Landverlag. Schmidt was sent to the Solothurn Literature Days in 2013invited. In late autumn 2014 his second novel Am Tisch A Soldier was published and in May 2017 his third novel Moosflüstern was also published by Landverlag.

He lives and works as a journalist, author and tourist guide in Reykjavík , Iceland .
