Joachim Käschel

Joachim Käschel (born January 28, 1951 in Olbernhau ) is professor emeritus at the Faculty of Economics at the TU Chemnitz .

Käschel was born in Olbernhau in 1951. He studied mathematics until 1973 and then did his doctorate at the TH Karl-Marx-Stadt . After working at the Mathematics Section, he switched to the Faculty of Economics in 1989 and shortly thereafter received his B doctorate.

In 1993 he was appointed to the professorship for production management and industrial management at the then newly founded faculty for economics. Prof. Käschel was elected dean of the faculty for the first time in 1996 and has held this office of dean several times.

His research interests lie in the topics of production planning and control including the evaluation and introduction of PPS systems , material logistics, generation and control of production networks as well as the use of modern methods in production management: knowledge-based systems, fuzzy technology, neural networks, simulations , genetic algorithms , Ant Colony Optimization.

Current research projects of the DFG were / are the Collaborative Research Center 457 “Regional Production Networks without Hierarchies” (DFG project) and the Collaborative Research Center 692 “HALS - High-strength aluminum-based lightweight materials for safety components” (DFG project). Even after his retirement in September 2016, Professor Käschel is still active in research and teaching.
