Joachim Roick

Joachim Roick (* 1923 in Weißwasser ) is a German entrepreneur and functionary of the GDR bloc party LDPD .

Life

In 1940 Roick joined the SS . During the Second World War he became a member of the SS-Totenkopf-Reiterstandarte Lublin and later of the 1st SS-Panzer-Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler . In 1941 he was promoted to SS-Sturmmann and in 1942 to SS-Unterscharführer. He had attended the SS Junker School in Braunschweig.

After the Second World War, Roick joined the LDP (later renamed LDPD) and took over the Lausitzer Spiegelfabrik KG in Weißwasser as the owner . He became a member of the Cottbus district and regional councils of the LDP and ran for his party as a member of the People's Chamber in 1958 . The candidacy was withdrawn because of his Nazi past, which was known at the time.
