Joachim Scholz (Author)
Joachim Scholz (born October 21, 1924 in Danzig ) is a German export merchant and author of contemporary witness reports .
Joachim Scholz spent his childhood and youth in Danzig until he was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1942. As a lieutenant, he experienced the war against the Soviet Union and on May 8, 1945, the day of the surrender, was taken prisoner by the Soviets not far from his hometown. After 4 years in a Caucasian prison camp, he came to West Germany. Today he lives in Essen.
He wrote his books with the aim of conveying the way of thinking of this time to the following generations and to show by his own example how easily idealism can be misguided and misused. In his works he describes his own youthful enthusiasm for the growing Greater Germany and the horrors of war and captivity that followed.
