Joachim Steinmann (born March 15, 1949 in Zwenkau ) is a German artist (under the name CHAIM ) and politician ( CDU ).

Steinmann attended the elementary school in Zwenkau and the Hildebrand school in Markkleeberg . After graduating from high school, he studied art education and history at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . Steinmann acquired the title of qualified teacher and then worked as a teacher in various places in Mecklenburg. After being artistically active before, he became a freelance graphic designer in 1985. His work was mainly exhibited in churches. In 1989 he returned to the profession of teacher, he taught art education, history and English at the POS Kopernikusschule in Bützow .

Steinmann became a member of the CDU in 1988, where he was a member of the Bützow district executive. He was also deputy state chairman at the CDA . In 1990 he was a member of the last people 's chamber in the GDR. In the same year he was elected directly to the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the constituency of Wismar, Land - Bützow . However, Steinmann resigned his mandate in December 1991 in order to become director of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state broadcasting center the following year . He held this office until 2004.
