Joachim Westerbarkey

Joachim Westerbarkey (born October 22, 1943 in Gütersloh ) is a German communication scientist .

From 1963 to 1970 Westerbarkey studied journalism , sociology and German studies; In 1970 he received his doctorate and in 1971 served as a research assistant and academic adviser. In 1973 he was promoted to the Academic Council. In 1988 he completed his habilitation in journalism and communication studies. After acting as professor at the universities of Dortmund (winter semester 1994/95) and Düsseldorf (1997–1999), he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Münster in 2002 and retired in 2009 .
