history

Air Liquide Austria GmbH was founded in 1916 by the Swedish AGA group from the union of the companies "Österreichische Dissousgas- und Autogenwerke Franz Krückl & Co" (founded in 1898) and "Oxygen and nitrogen industry Hansmann & Co" (founded in 1905) as an "autogenous gas accumulator Krückl & Hansmann GmbH ”was founded. The Schwechat location was established in 1916/17 with an oxygen plant, a dissous gas plant for acetylene and a “machine and welding apparatus construction institute”. This location had a railway connection and a central boiler house.

In 1961, two air separation plants in Schwechat were converted to use pure nitrogen, investments in nitrogen compressors and the start of nitrogen deliveries via pipeline to adjacent industrial basins.

In 1971 the old air separation plant in Schwechat was shut down and a new one was put into operation. In 1972, the then new air gas filling system (O2, N2, Ar / Mix, compressed air), one of the first “fully palletized” filling systems in the AGA Group at that time, and the conversion of the acetylene plant (Schwechat) were put into operation.

In Graz, the predecessor company Alpenländische Oxygenwerke (ASW) was taken over and the company premises in Ulrich-Lichtenstein-Gasse operated until around 2010, after which it was relocated to the southeast from Graz to Messendorf. To this day there is a delivery warehouse next to the railway in Peggau .

The company traded in the 1990s and 2000s with the red / white lettering A G A.

In 1994 the redesigned location in Anif was opened and the special gas bottling facility in Schwechat was put into operation. Another two years later, the AGA introduced the first barcode-supported bottle information system SERVITRAX at a gas company in Austria. In 1996/1997 the opening of the new bottle logistics center, the commissioning of the special gas filling facility and the relocation of the headquarters from Vienna to Schwechat took place. To this day, the headquarters of Air Liquide is located in Schwechat. In 1997 the air separation plant was opened in Donawitz and in 1999 the gas activities of Air Products in Austria were taken over. In 2001 the activities of AGA Austria were taken over by the Air Liquide Group. In 2006 the new air separation plants in Schwechat and Donawitz were put into operation, and the Hard and Lustenau plants were merged a year later.
