Joan Grant (born April 12, 1907 as Joan Marshall , † February 3, 1989 ) was an English writer.

Life

Joan Grant, daughter of entomologist Jack Marshall, came to some fame by claiming to have had clairvoyant dreams since childhood. At 16, she allegedly ran into HG Wells , who advised her to keep her dreams to herself.

She is also said to have met her husband Esmond in a supernatural way. During a skiing holiday in Switzerland, she was playing one of her grandmother's melodies on the piano in the hotel when a man approached her. Esmond said he had dreamed of her for two years. One day when her husband had to go to France for professional reasons , Joan thought he heard the voice of her late grandmother, who told her about the coming death of her husband. Esmond died the night before his return to England. Joan remarried in 1927 to Leslie Grant, who helped her jot down her dreams. The catastrophe on the Atlantic, which burned in the English Channel on January 4, 1933 , is also said to have predicted the night before the disaster.

Joan Grant claims to remember more than 30 previous lives, often very distant. Her autobiography Time out of Mind (in America Far Memory ) was published in 1956. She published many of her supposed memories in the form of historical novels. One of her alleged pre-incarnations was Lavinia in England, who is said to have died in 1875 at the age of around 20 from falling from a horse. She also mentions a memory of a previous life as a Chinese concubine about 2000 years ago. Joan Grant described a number of different types of deaths that are said to have happened to her, such as guillotine execution , stake , broken neck while diving by hitting a rock, and an insect stab in the eyelid as an Egyptian captain (she was actually once so stabbed, the wound healed a lot heavy).

Joan Grant's publications are of a purely literary nature and have no relevance to parapsychology .

Novels

  • Winged Pharaoh (1937). Since 1936, Joan Grant began to remember a past life as Sekeeta (= Sekhet-a-ra), the daughter of a pharaoh (1st dynasty), who later ascended the throne herself (together with her three years older brother Neyah). A psychometric experiment with a scarab is said to have triggered this memory. The existence of their “Far Memory” is said to go back to a relevant training session by Sekeeta. The book is dedicated to Daisy Sartorius, who Grant believed to be the reincarnation of Sekeeta's mother. Sekeeta died of an epidemic at the age of 53. She also mentions horses that are historically only proven in the 18th dynasty.
  • Life as Carola (1939) is about her pre-incarnation as Carola di Ludovici (* 1510, † 1537) in Perugia .
  • Eyes of Horus (1942) refers to her previous life as Ra-ab Hotep at the time of Amenemhet I (beginning of the 12th Dynasty).
  • Lord of the Horizon (1943) is also about the Ra-ab Hotep incarnation.
  • Scarlet Feather describes her previous life as an Indian in the 2nd millennium BC. Chr.
  • Return to Elysium is about her pre-incarnation as Lucina, who was born in Greece at the end of the 2nd century BC.
  • So Moses Was Born concerns her life as a male contemporary of Ramses II.
