Joan Greenwood

Joan Greenwood (born March 4, 1921 in Chelsea , † February 27, 1987 in London ) was a British actress.

biography

Joan Greenwood was born in Chelsea and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art . Even after her first appearances in film, she was initially mainly active in the theater until she was regularly seen in the cinema from the late 1940s. She was particularly interested in the role of seductive beauty, including her most famous role as Sibella in the 1949 black comedy Adel committed . After several popular films by Ealing Studios such as Joy of Life and The Man in the White Suit , Joan Greenwood also appeared in French and from 1954 also in US productions, including an appearance in Fritz Lang's costume film Das Schloß im Schatten . The success of the English films could not build on in US productions and returned to her homeland. In later years she shifted to supporting roles and television appearances and remained acting until the year she died.

In 1960 she met André Morell while filming and married him. The marriage lasted until Morell's death in 1978. The marriage resulted in a son, Jason Morell . Greenwood died of a heart attack in 1987.
