Joana do Rosario

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joana do Rosário is an East Timorese politician. She is a member of the Partido Unidade Nacional (PUN).

East Timorese law gives members of the national parliament the opportunity to suspend their mandate for a while. During this time, she will replace the next candidate on the party list of the previous election in parliament. The MP can later resume his mandate. In cases where the party leader of the PUN, Fernanda Borges , could not attend meetings, Rosário took over for her. Several places on the list were skipped because Borges was the only female of the three members of the PUN during the legislative period from 2007 to 2012. Rosário was originally in 21st place. According to the law, women's representation had to continue.

In the new elections in 2012 Rosário ran for 33rd place on the PUN list. However, the party failed at the three percent hurdle.
