Joanna Olech
Joanna Olech , b. Wunderlich (born December 26, 1955 in Warsaw ) is a Polish author of books for children and young people , illustrator and literary critic.
Life
Joanna Olech was born in 1955 as the daughter of the journalist Jerzy Wunderlich (1930–2009) and the editor Janina Wunderlich, b. Cembrzyńska, born in Warsaw. Olech is a trained graphic artist. She first attended the Warsaw Art School Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych and then studied graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw , where she was a student of the graphic artist and illustrator Janusz Stanny (* 1932). She made her debut as an author with the children's book Dynastia Miziołków . It is about the everyday life of a family of five in a humorous way and is told in diary form from the perspective of a teenage son. The novel was gradually published in Świat Młodych magazine from 1993 onwards, with illustrations by Magda Jasny . In 1994 the Egmont publishing house brought it out in the form of several small-format books, this time with illustrations by Olech himself. In 1995 her work was awarded the Nagroda Literacka literary prize . Kornela Makuszyńskiego awarded. Several other editions followed. In 2002 Olech published the sequel Trudne słówka .
She is the author of articles on children's and youth literature in the newspapers Tygodnik Powszechny , Rzeczpospolita and Gazeta Wyborcza . She is a member of the Polish section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), and in 2007 she was a member of the board.
Olech was first married to the graphic artist Piotr Młodożeniec, and his second marriage to the designer and mathematician Grzegorz Olech. She has three children.
