Joaquín Beltrán (born April 29, 1977 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .

Life

Beltrán received his first professional contract in 1997 with his hometown club Club Universidad Nacional , with which he was under contract until the end of the 2005/06 season and with which he experienced the most successful year of his career in 2004. That year he won both championships with the Pumas, both the Clausura 2004 and the Apertura 2004 , the Mexican Supercup and the prestigious Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu .

In the summer of 2006 he moved to Club Necaxa , but returned to his hometown after just one season, where he was under contract with Cruz Azul for the next two years . At the end of 2010, he ended his active career in the ranks of the Gallos Blancos de Querétaro .

National team

Beltrán made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on March 13, 1999 in a 2-1 win over arch rivals USA. Until the international game against England (0: 4) on May 26, 2001, in which he was used for one half, he completed a total of eleven international appearances before an almost six-year international break began. At the beginning of 2007 he made two more international appearances: on February 28 against Venezuela (3-1) he was called up over the full distance, on March 28 against Ecuador (4-2) he was substituted on for Jonny Magallón shortly before the end .
