Richard Koll (born April 7, 1897 in Koblenz , † May 13, 1963 in Berlin ) was a German lieutenant general in World War II .

Military career

Koll was trained in the cadet corps and took part in the First World War, in which he was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross . After the end of the war he was accepted into the Reichswehr and used in the motor vehicle troops. In the autumn of 1937 he became the commander of the II. Division of the 11th Panzer Regiment. He was appointed commander of the 11th Panzer Regiment on January 1, 1940. This he led in France and Russia. Koll was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on July 15, 1941 for his services as regimental commander .

From January 1 to February 19, 1944, he commanded the 1st Panzer Division during the Korsun-Shevchenkovsk operation . In 1944 he became head of motor vehicle repairs.

He was captured by British forces in 1945 and released from captivity in 1946.
