Joaquín Botero Vaca (born December 10, 1977 in La Paz , Bolivia ) is a former Bolivian football player .
Career
Joaquín Botero was in the 2002 season in world football the player with the highest scoring, namely 49 goals for his club Club Bolívar . After 133 hits for Club Bolívar , the second highest number of hits ever in this club, he left his club and moved abroad.
Botero's first foreign club was the Mexican club UNAM Pumas , with which he was two Mexican champions in 2004 ( Clausura 2004 and Apertura 2004 ). In 2006 he moved to Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro of the Primera División in Argentina , and in 2007 to Deportivo Tachira , Venezuela . In 2008 he returned to his Bolivian hometown club Bolívar . In 2009 he moved abroad again, to the UAT Correcaminos in Mexico . There he played a year in the second division . At the beginning of 2010 he moved to al-Arabi in Kuwait. There he came on four missions in which he could score three goals.
In early 2011, Botero returned to Bolivia and joined the San José Club . After a year he went to India. The 2013/14 season he played with the Sport Boys Warnes in Bolivia, where he ended his career.
National team
Botero played regularly in the Bolivian national soccer team from 1999 to 2009 and tops the all-time goalscorer list with 20 goals.
On April 1, 2009, Botero scored a hat trick for the Bolivian national team in a sensational 6-1 win over Argentina in a FIFA 2010 World Cup qualifier, Argentina's first loss under coach Diego Maradona .
