Joaquín Escolán y Balibrera

Joaquín Escolán y Balibrera (* 1810 in San Salvador ; † in Ciudad San Vicente ) was Jefe Supremo from September 30, 1834 to October 14, 1834 and from March 2 to April 10, 1835 a member of a government junta of the El Salvador province in Central America Confederation .

Life

Joaquín Escolán y Balibrera was a member of the Moderados , as the Partido Conservador was then called. The Moderados wanted out of the confederation dominated by the liberal Fever .

At the beginning of 1833 an indigenous uprising led by Anastasio Mártir Aquino San Carlos , Mariano Prado Baca , the governor of the liberal José Francisco Morazán Quezada from Ciudad San Vicente was put to flight.

In 1835, Morazán moved the seat of the federal government by decree from Guatemala City to San Salvador .

Escolán moved the seat of the provincial government from San Salvador to Ciudad San Vicente.

From October 5, 1834 to 1839, Ciudad San Vicente was the seat of the provincial government of El Salvador.

He was replaced on October 14, 1834 by the liberal José María Silva on intervention by Morazán.

From March 2 to April 10, 1835 Escolán was chairman of a government junta with José Dionisio de la Trinidad de Herrera y Díaz del Valle . During this time, the Cabildos de Españoles chose a Jefe Supremo .
