Joaquim Piqué i Calvo
Joaquim Piqué i Calvo (born January 1, 1970 in Monistrol de Montserrat ) is a Catalan choir and orchestra conductor. From 2000 to 2007 he was head of the Escolania de Montserrat .
life and work
Joaquim Piqué i Calvo began his musical education as a 10-year-old at the Escola de Montserrat and initially remained there until he was 14. He then studied at the Badalona and Manresa Conservatories. Since 1990 he studied conducting with Francesc Llongueras . At the same time he took part in conducting courses from Eric Ericson , which he gave in Barcelona.
From 2000 to 2007 he headed the Escolania de Montserrat . Piqué was the director of the Unió Musical del Bages , the Orfeó Manresà , the Orfeó Monistrolenc , the Cor de la passió d'Olesa de Montserrat , singer and deputy director of the Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana (Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana) and director of the Orquestra de Flautes de Barcelona (Flute Orchestra of Barcelona). Since August 2017 Piqué has directed the choir school of the Teatro del Lago in Frutillar in the Chilean Patagonia. In the meantime he has built up a professional chamber choir here and has significantly developed the amateur choir.
