The JobRad GmbH is a Germany-wide provider for Dienstradleasing based in Freiburg . With the JobRad model, the mobility service provider organizes the leasing of company bicycles and company e-bikes for employers and their transfer to employees using a digital portal solution. JobRad invented the concept of company bike leasing in Germany, is the owner of the "JobRad" brand and the market leader in company bike leasing. Not only employees can use bicycles and e-bikes via JobRad, but also the self-employed, freelancers and traders.

history

Today's JobRad GmbH was founded in 2008 as LeaseRad GmbH by Ulrich Prediger. The goal: to establish the company bike as an equivalent alternative to the company car in Germany. With this idea, Prediger wins several founder awards. In 2011 Holger Tumat becomes the company's second managing director. Together with other bicycle players and associations, they advocate that company bikes and company cars , which have been privileged by the so-called 1% rule since the 1990s, are treated equally for tax purposes. With success: On November 23, 2012, the highest federal tax authority decided to allow the 1% rule to also apply to (electric) bicycles. This is a crucial milestone for the company's development. In 2019, LeaseRad GmbH will be renamed JobRad GmbH. The 0.5% rule adopted by the highest tax authorities in the same year (see Wikipedia article Firmenrad ) and the tax-free company bike financed by the employer ( Section 3 No. 37 EStG ) are further important milestones for JobRad and the company bike leasing industry. Almost a year after the 0.5% rule, the highest tax authorities of the federal states decide on January 9, 2020 to give even more tax incentives to leasing company bikes: for all company bikes (type: salary conversion) that have been leased for the first time since January 1, 2019, quarter From January 1, 2020, the assessment basis according to which the amount of the taxable pecuniary benefit is calculated for private use. In practical terms, this means: the monetary benefit is only taxed at 0.25%. Company bicycles and e-bikes are now even better off from a tax point of view than cars used for business purposes.

Controversy

Company bike leasing is viewed critically by some unions: The deferred compensation, which is often used to finance company bikes or company bikes, is the focus of criticism. In many collective agreements, it is only allowed for company pension schemes. For more information on the discussion about tax risks, see company bike .

In the Jobrad standard contract model, employees also incur enormous additional costs when they change employer themselves, so that in the end the employee pays significantly more for the bike than if he had bought it directly from a dealer.
