Yoke (component)

In the building industry, a yoke is a component that consists of several upright components that are connected to a load-bearing horizontal component. A yoke whose standing components ( piles ) are rammed into the ground is called a pile yoke ; a yoke, the vertical components of which ( stand , stamp , stems ) stand on a beam on the ground, the threshold , is called a swell yoke .

Yokes are used in bridge construction as pillars for yoke bridges . Yoke also refers to a section of a bridge that consists of two pillars and the part of the superstructure above , as well as the space between the pillars of a bridge. The term is also used for the arches of a stone arch bridge .

Provisional support

By fire brigades , technical relief agencies and civil protection organizations Schwelljoche be used as temporary supports for ceilings in danger of collapsing buildings.
