Life

After graduating from high school, Haselbacher went to the Bundeswehr, where he was a reserve officer. He then completed an apprenticeship as a banker and worked from 1972 to 1992 as the managing director of a medium-sized industrial company. From 1994 he was the owner and managing director of "Sport und Freizeit GmbH".

At the beginning of the 1990s, Haselbacher joined the management team of ESC Wedemark , which later became the Hanover Scorpions - an ice hockey team from Hanover that played in the German Ice Hockey League from 1996 to 2013. Haselbacher and his family were managing directors of the only family company in the DEL . His son Eric was the club's manager.

In 2001 Haselbacher's political immunity was lifted on suspicion of tax evasion. In the so-called “black money affair”, numerous buildings across Germany were searched. Haselbacher asserted that the club had never paid with black money.

In the summer of 2003 Haselbacher fell out with the operators of the Preussag Arena , so that the Scorpions returned to their old stadium, the Ice House in Mellendorf, for one season. After the sale of Hannover Scorpions Eishockey Betriebs GmbH to Günter Papenburg, Haselbacher acts as 1st chairman of the ESC Wedemark and continues the youth work in Wedemark.
