Jochen Rehbein (* 1939 in Göttingen ) is a German linguist . He lives in Hamburg , is the father of the sociologist Boike Rehbein and two daughters.

Research and Teaching

Rehbein and Konrad Ehlich founded functional pragmatics as a theory of language, in which the category of the purpose of linguistic action is central and the socially based expediency also determines the analysis of linguistic means. The additive drawing model - as developed by Charles W. Morris - is rejected. His language theory is essentially linked to the psychology of language and field theory of Karl Bühler . Rehbein produced important works on pragmatics, intercultural communication, medical communication and functional grammar.
