Boike Rehbein
Boike Rehbein (born 1965 in Berlin ) is a German sociologist and social philosopher.
CV and teaching
Boike Rehbein is the son of the linguist Jochen Rehbein and the grandson of the child surgeon Fritz Rehbein . He studied philosophy , sociology and history in Freiburg im Breisgau , Paris , Frankfurt am Main , Göttingen and Berlin . His doctorate took place in 1996, his habilitation in 2004. His most important academic teachers were Pierre Bourdieu , Günter Dux , Jürgen Habermas , Jann Holl , Bernd Martin, Günther Patzig and Hermann Schwengel . He has held visiting professorships in Bangkok , Buenos Aires , New Delhi , Santiago de Chile , Vientiane and Zurich . In Vientiane, Boike Rehbein played a key role in establishing the social science faculty at the National University of Laos . Rehbein was director of the Global Studies program at the University of Freiburg until 2009 and then moved to the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he has been a professor of society and transformation at the Institute for Asian and African Studies since the 2009/10 winter semester.
research
Boike Rehbein's main research interests are primarily concerned with the complex of topics of globalization, with particular emphasis on Southeast Asia , with critical sociological theory and social structure analysis .
He is one of the leading experts on Laos and on Pierre Bourdieu's sociology .
