Jochen Schönleber

Jochen Schönleber (born June 3, 1959 in Tübingen ) is a German opera director and director of the Rossini Festival in Wildbad .

Life

After early film work, studies in the humanities at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and scholarships at the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici in Naples , he became assistant to Juri Ljubimow at the State Operas in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe ; he was also the production manager at the Landeskunstwochen in Tübingen. Schönleber has been artistic director of the Rossini Opera Festival in Wildbad since 1992 and has developed the festival into a world-renowned experimental facility for bel canto talents, for Rossini's works, for unknown pieces and the entire bel canto repertoire. Since 2004 he has also been director of the BelCanto Academy.

His staging list includes Kassandra (1988), Weisse Rose (1989), Maria Stuart (1990) , among others .
