Joe Lewis (born February 5, 1937 in Bow , London ) is a British entrepreneur .

Life

Lewis left school when he was 15 and worked for his father's family business, a catering service. In the 1970s he sold the company. Lewis is the main shareholder in the investment company Tavistock Group , which also owns 85% of the shares in the English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur via the ENIC Group . He is the majority shareholder in the British company Mitchells & Butlers .

He made his fortune through financial speculation in the 1980s and 1990s, including speculation on " Black Wednesday " in 1992. Lewis is one of the richest Britons according to the US Forbes Magazine . In 2017, he received his third mega- yacht, the Aviva , which with a length of 98.4 meters is the largest yacht in Abeking & Rasmussen 's history and one of the forty longest motor yachts in the world.
