Joel Edwards
Joel Edwards (* 1951 in Jamaica ) is an English theologian , pastor , speaker, author and leader of Christian organizations.
Professional
Edwards received his PhD from St. John's College, Durham University , where he then worked as a Visitung Fellow. He also performs this task at Spurgeon's College. He has also freelanced for the BBC, written books and lectured on biblical, ethical and social issues. He also works as a consultant and mentor.
Edwards was head of the British Evangelical Alliance for over ten years and is the international director of the Micah Challenge (German: Micha Initiative ), a Christian organization that campaigns against global poverty and for global justice. From 2004 to 2007 he was its co-chair. He is an advocate for Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), which advocates religious freedom and human rights.
Edwards is ordained pastor of a major Afro-Caribbean denomination and honorary canopy of St Paul's Cathedral in London . He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of St. Andrews , Scotland. In 2018 he was one of the speakers at the Conference on Justice in Asia. He was placed on the Queen's Honor Roll in 2019, honoring those who work against poverty and injustice.

Joel Edwards is married to Carol and has two grown children and several grandchildren. He lives in London.
