Career

Joel Jacob was born on October 8, 1992. Since 2015 he has been playing for Swetes FC , a lower-class club from the town of Swetes on the island of Antigua . The club rose in the 2015/16 season from the Antiguan third division, in which the team clearly secured the championship title with 14 wins, one draw and one defeat in 16 games, to the next higher division in the country. In the ABFA Champions League that followed after the regular championship , the team was eliminated in the third round against local rivals Old Road FC . At the end of the second division season 2016/17, Jacob and his team were five points ahead of the runner-up, Five Islands FC , in first place in the First Division . In the subsequent ABFA Super 8 Tournament , the team defeated SAP FC 3: 2 in extra time in the semifinals and met Pigotts Bullets FC, who also came out of the semifinals 3: 2 in extra time, in the final . However, the final game was canceled in the 77th minute of the game when the score was 2-1 for Pigotts Bullets FC due to a fight between the players and both teams were denied promotion to the top division. During the 2016/17 season Jacob was called up for the national soccer team of his home country and made his international debut on November 23, 2016 in a friendly international match against Estonia . In the 1-0 defeat, coach Rolston Williams used him from the 63rd minute of the game as a replacement for Shevorn Phillip, who was a little over four years his junior .
