Joel ben Uri Heilprin

Joel ben Uri Heilprin (* 1690 ; † 1757 ) was a Galician thaumaturge who worked in Satanów and Zamość . He had some education in medicine and physics, but pretended to be able to perform healings and miracles through the Kabbalah and the Holy Name. In 1720 he anonymously published the work Toledot Adam , which described various remedies by famous Kabbalists. The foreword is a panegyric about Heilprin and his miracles. Heilprin had many students who after his death formed a group of fraudulent charlatans.
