Joep van Liefland

Joep van Liefland (* 1966 in Utrecht ) is a contemporary concept artist from the Netherlands . He lives and works in Berlin .

He deals with the phenomenology of media and their transformation. The thematic focus is on the aspects of transience and dissolution that go hand in hand with technological progress. Using technology as an example, Joep van Liefland will speak about the nature of change processes and the universal principles underlying the transition from the old to the new.

For his works of art, Joep van Liefland uses various outdated distribution and storage devices, which he arranges into space-filling installations (as in the work series "VIDEO PALACE") or in the form of sculptures , wall objects, screen prints and collages .

Joep van Liefland and Maik Schierloh have been running the AUTOCENTER exhibition space in Berlin since 2001, where international art positions are regularly presented.
