Johan Sigfrid Sirén
Johan Sigfrid Sirén (born May 27, 1889 in Ylihärmä , † March 5, 1961 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish architect .
In the 1920s, Sirén was considered the main representative of neoclassicism in Finland, and functionalist influences are also noticeable in later works . From 1931 to 1957 Sirén taught as a professor of architecture at the Helsinki University of Technology and from 1931 to 1949 he was chairman of the Finnish Arts and Crafts Association. His son Heikki Sirén also became an architect.
One of his most famous buildings is the parliament building (Finnish. Eduskuntatalo , Swedish. Riksdagshuset ) of the Finnish Reichstag, which was completed in 1931 .
