Johann-Friedrich Konrad (born February 25, 1932 in Breslau ; † March 2, 2015 in Dortmund ) was a German Protestant theologian, professor and university lecturer for the New Testament at the TU Dortmund .

Life

Konrad was born on February 25, 1932 as the son of the theologian Joachim Konrad (1903–1979) and the educator Gisela Konrad, b. Altmann (1903–1987), born in Breslau. On November 25, 1970 he became professor for Protestant theology and its didactics at the Pädagogische Hochschule Ruhr , which in 1980 became the University of Dortmund, today's TU Dortmund. was incorporated. He held this chair until his retirement on March 1, 1997.

Konrad was active in the interreligious dialogue between Jews, Muslims and Christians. From 1978 to 1992 he was a member of the board and the theological committee of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Dortmund eV , after which he was its honorary chairman.

Konrad showed anti-Jewish tendencies in his research on exegesis , especially in the Gospel according to Matthew . He quickly expanded the idea of ​​dialogue to include Islam. As a pedagogue, he tried to convey this knowledge in a child-friendly way through fables, fairy tales and puppet shows.
