The Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium Pirna-Copitz is the only right-Elvish high school in Pirna and has 755 students and 72 teachers. Through the school partnership with the Chinese High School No. 1 from Hefei and the 2004/2005 musical Fame - The Road to Fame , the school received a lot of public attention.
On November 12, 2002, the school received an award as a “sport-friendly school” because of the many participations in competitions and extracurricular sporting activities such as the ski camp for students, parents and teachers. The high school has been a participant in the Medios project since 2003/2004.
The grammar school is named after the poet and philosopher Johann Gottfried Herder .
