Wolfram Müller (born July 8, 1981 in Pirna ) is a German athlete who has been successful as a medium and long-distance runner since the late 1990s. Among other things, he won the gold medal in the 5000-meter run at the European Junior Championships in 1999 and the silver medal in the 1500-meter run at the 2000 Junior World Championships.

General

Wolfram Müller attended the Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium in Pirna . Müller is considered a very versatile runner who can achieve top performances from 800 to 10,000 meters . He prefers the 1500 meter route.

His sporting career began at LSV Pirna (later merged with LG Asics Pirna ). He trained with Klaus Müller until a falling out with him in 2002. From then on Wolfram Müller trained under Isabelle Baumann - later under Dieter Baumann - at LAV Tübingen . Due to differences of opinion, he separated from Baumann in mid-2005, switched back to Klaus Müller and has been working for LG Asics Pirna again since the beginning of 2006. Since January 1st 2010 Wolfram Müller starts for the Erfurt LAC and is trained by Enrico Aßmus.

He is 1.90 m tall with a competition weight of 68 kg. Wolfram Müller has been married since autumn 2008 and is expecting his second child in spring.

In October 2010, the future police master suffered a severe Achilles tendon rupture at the European Police Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine. Almost two years after his last competition and the Achilles tendon rupture, he made his successful comeback on February 10, 2012 in Ohrdruf, Thuringia, with second place at the German cross-country championships.

For the future he plans to go long distance and run the 10,000 m.

successes

His first big success was the victory at the U20 European Championships in 1999 over 5000 meters (14: 05.98 min).

The following year he ran into second place at the Junior World Championships over 1500 meters (3: 39.37 min). With this success he was the first German to win a medal in a running discipline at the Junior World Championships. In the same year he also won the title of European cross-country champion among the juniors. At the German Youth Championships in July of the same year, he won over 1500, 3000 and 5000 meters. In his youth and junior years he was German champion more than 10 times.

Wolfram Müller holds the current German youth records over 3000 meters (7: 52.46 min) as well as the German youth indoor record over 1500 meters (3: 44.97 min) and the U23 indoor record over 3000 meters (7: 47.39 min ). Furthermore, he is the owner of the 7.5-kilometer road running best of the B-youth (22:56 min.)

In 2001, Müller was the winner of the 1,500 meter final at the U23 European Championships. In the same year he also took part in the World Championships in Edmonton on this route.
