Johann Albert von Heister

Johann Albert Graf von Heister (* 1676 ; † October 16, 1746 in Grätz ) was an imperial-royal field marshal lieutenant, secret court war councilor, commander of Grätz and head of an infantry regiment.

Life

His parents were the Austrian field marshal Reichsgraf Sigbert Heister and his wife Anna Maria Countess von Zinzendorf . His older brother was Rudolf von Heister , who died in the siege of Belgrade in 1717. His uncle Hanibal Joseph von Heister († 1719) was sergeant-general, vice-general von Waradein and commander of Creutz in Croatia.

In 1699 he went into imperial military service and was appointed chamberlain by Emperor Leopold. In 1711 he became a colonel and in 1715 the Inner-Austrian War Council. In 1718 he became the commander of his father's infantry regiment, in 1723 the emperor appointed him general sergeant and in 1733 field marshal lieutenant. In 1735 he became Vice President of the War within Austria and a Privy Councilor. In 1738 he became the commandant of Grätz and in 1739 he became a real secret council.

He married Gabriele Josepha von Kaunitz on May 5, 1711 (April 2, 1690 - March 6, 1769). Their son Siegbert died as a clergyman.
