Johann Albrecht Kreß

Johann Albrecht Kreß (* 1644 near Nuremberg ; † July 23, 1684 in Stuttgart ) was a German composer and conductor .

Life

In 1660 Kreß was accepted into the Stuttgart Hopfkapelle as a musician and discantist . In 1669 he was performed there as an instrumentist. In 1676 he was named Vice Kapellmeister under Johann Friedrich Magg (1626–1690), who had been in office since 1665 . In 1684 Johann Kusser , the father of Johann Sigismund Kusser , who was the choirmaster of the Stuttgart city church, protested that Kreß was taking away his best choirboy.

His brother Paul Kreß (1635–1694), who was accepted as an instrumentalist in the Stuttgart court orchestra in 1660 and had trained on the viola da gamba in England in 1666 , was also a member of the court orchestra.
