Johann August Lehninger

Johann August Lehninger (* 1730 in Görlitz , † 1786 in Dresden ) was a German Romanist , Italianist, translator and lexicographer.

life and work

Lehninger was secretary of the Saxon State Chancellery in Dresden or (according to other sources) of the General Staff Chancellery of the Saxon Army.

Lehninger provided the Italian-Latin-French dictionary by Annibale Antonini (Paris 1735) with a translation of the Italian definitions and with German (instead of Latin) equivalents and published it (with a German-Italian part) in Leipzig in 1763.
