Johann Baptist Müller (born October 7, 1850 ; † May 6, 1930 ) was a Catholic theologian and writer.

Johann Baptist Müller was a member of the Jesuit order . He was a spiritual and spiritual writer. The best known is his ceremonial book for priests and candidates of the priesthood , which was later published as rites and rubrics book for priests and candidates of the priesthood or briefly as rites and rubrics book in 26 editions up to 1967. It was published by Herder Verlag in Freiburg , and later also by St. Benno Verlag in Leipzig. Herder also published the book in English as the Handbook of Ceremonies in multiple editions. Up to the 12th edition published in 1930 he made the revisions himself, later editions were edited by Johann Baptist Umberg , then by Eugen Frei. This gives his name, which is sometimes incorrectly mentioned, Johann Baptist Müller-Frei .
