Johann Carl Kristian Rasehorn

Johann Carl Kristian Rasehorn (born April 28, 1831 at the tinplate hut near Tanne , † May 29, 1913 in Parikkala in Finland ) was a glassmaker who emigrated to Finland in 1861 and later owned a glassworks. He is the progenitor of the Rasehorn family, which is still widespread in Finland today.

Life

Johann Carl Christian Rasehorn was born as the son of the ducal domain tenant Johann Carl Christian Rasehorn (senior) in the Viehhof (Vorwerk) tinplate hut, which at that time belonged to the municipality of Tanne . Rasehorn attended elementary school in Braunlage and was confirmed there in 1845. In the Röhrigschen Glashütte in Braunlage, Johann Rasehorn learned the craft of a glassmaker. In 1861 Rasehorn finally emigrated to Finland and worked there in various glassworks in the area around Virolahti and Parikkala in Karelia . From 1885 he was co-owner of a glassworks there.

Johann Rasehorn became the founder of a family of glassblowers. The sons Friedrich Wilhelm Rasehorn (1858–1918), Gustav Heinrich Rasehorn (1862–1951) and Ernst Friedrich Rasehorn (1867–1897) were all active in the Finnish glass industry.

Johann Carl Kristian Rasehorn died in Parikkala at the age of 82.
