Johann Carl Leonhart

Johann Carl Leonhart (born February 29, 1720 in Hanover , † April 27, 1777 in Niedeck ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Johann Carl Leonhart was the son of the Hanoverian chamber clerk and later chamberlain Johann Karl Leonhart. From 1737 he studied law at the newly opened University of Göttingen . After completing his studies, he entered the Hanoverian administrative service and was chamber clerk in Hanover until 1749 and was then official clerk in Aerzen until 1756 . In 1756 Leonhart was appointed bailiff in the Niedeck office, where he remained until his death. After his death, the Niedeck office was co-administered by the Reinhausen office.

Leonhart was married twice. Both wives were sisters and daughters of the Hanoverian land and monastery builder Georg Schädler. Leonhart's first marriage had seven children, including the two wives of the poet Gottfried August Bürger, Dorette and Molly . The second marriage remained childless, but his second wife had two daughters from their first marriage.
