Johann Christian Quandt the Younger
Johann Christian Quandt (the younger, born June 8 . Jul / 19 June 1733 greg. In Urvaste , Livonia ; † 24. March 1822 in Herrnhut , Saxony ) was a German clergyman and member of the Moravian Church .
Johann Christian Quandt the Younger followed in the footsteps of his father, Johann Christian Quandt the Elder (1704–1750), who was one of the first and leading representatives of the Moravian Brethren in the Baltic States .
In 1746 Quandt moved to Germany to be brought up in the Moravian way. He lived first in the Wetterau , then from 1749 in Großhennersdorf in Saxony . He traveled through Europe with the syndic of the Brothers' Union.
In 1764 Quandt became director of the economic college of the brother union. In 1769 he joined the university college. In 1818 he retired to Herrnhut for reasons of age.
In 1802 Quandt published the hymn book of the Herrnhut congregation in Livonia in Estonian under the title Mönne wastse Waimolikko Laolo .
