Johann Christian Reinhard Luja (born April 16, 1767 in Wiesbaden ; † December 10, 1847 there ) was a German Protestant pastor and local researcher.

Luja was born the son of a cantor. He received his education between 1776 and 1786 at the Philippinum grammar school in Weilburg . He then studied Protestant theology in Giessen . From 1818 to 1836 he worked as a pastor in Dotzheim .

Apart from his pastoral work, Luja devoted himself to researching the early history of Nassau . In 1811 and 1821 he called for research into the Upper German-Raetian Limes . Together with Hofkammerrat Christian Friedrich Habel , who came from Wiesbaden, and the Frankfurt scholar and art collector Johann Isaak von Gerning , he founded the Society for Nassau Antiquity and Historical Research in 1821 , where he assumed the office of secretary.

Honors

In the center of Dotzheim between Römergasse and Dörrgasse , the Pfarrer-Luja-Platz was named after him.
