Johann Christian Schröder
Johann Christian Schröder (born March 8, 1760 in Rostock ; † June 19, 1809 ibid) was a German lawyer and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Rostock.
Life
Schröder took in 1777 with a degree in law at the University of Rostock and was in 1780 with his Dissertatio Ivridica De Retentione pignoris Tam Whether Eadem Qvam Whether Diversa Dr. PhD in both rights . In 1783 he returned to Rostock from the University of Göttingen and re-enrolled as Dr. jur., possibly to embark on a scientific career. He initially worked as a lawyer and procurator at the city's higher courts and in 1784 published a collection of Rostock law.
In 1801 he became a councilor in Rostock. In 1803 he founded the first poor institution in Mecklenburg on the basis of a poor order created by him; he was president of this institution until his death. According to his wishes, he was buried between the poor he cared for in the (now former ) St. Gertrud cemetery, where his memorial was preserved in the garden of the Rostock clinics on Gertrudenstraße until the destruction of the Second World War.
