Johann Christian Thomae

Johann Christian Thomae (born April 5, 1668 in Heldburg , † March 19, 1724 in Neustadt bei Coburg ) was a German historian and rector in Neustadt.

Life

Thomae was born on April 5, 1668 in Heldburg in his grandfather's house. His father was Stephan Thomae, pastor in Wiesenfeld , later in Neuhaus and Sonnefeld . His mother was Cordula geb. Buchenröder, the daughter of the superintendent Michael Buchenröder. In 1682 Thomae was accepted into the High Princely High School in Coburg. From 1688 he studied at the University of Jena . After graduating, he worked as a teacher and was appointed to the rector's office in Neustadt near Coburg in 1697 . In 1722 ("in the XXVI. Year Rectore of the school there") his chronicle of the Reformation in the Duchy of Coburg was printed in Coburg. He died on March 19, 1724.
