Johann Conrad Brotbeck (born August 29, 1620 in Tübingen ; † February 22, 1677 in Tübingen) was a Württemberg professor of astronomy, physics and medicine.

Life

Johann Conrad Brotbeck was a student and son-in-law of Carl Bardili . He was matriculated in Tübingen in 1633. In 1636 he got the Bacc. art. , later also the Mag. art. From around 1639 he began studying medicine and was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. He became city ​​physician in Esslingen , 1650 associate professor for mathematics in Tübingen, and read physics and astronomy there. In 1655 he became a full professor of physics and a member of the Senate. At times he was also an associate professor of medicine. In 1656 he became a full professor of medicine and continued to represent physics in the philosophy faculty until 1661. In 1662 and 1668/69 he was rector of the University of Tübingen. His portrait still hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .
