Johann Ulrich Pregizer III. (also: Pregitzer; * February 2, 1647 in Tübingen ; † February 2, 1708 ibid) was from 1675 professor for "history, eloquence and politics" at the Collegium Illustre in Tübingen, from 1688 his professorship was extended to include the subject of "constitutional law" expanded.

Life

Johann Ulrich Pregizer III. was the second of five children of Johann Ulrich Pregizer II. (1611–1672, professor of philosophy and ethics and rector of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen) and his wife Maria Barbara, née. Renz, born.

On October 24, 1670, Pregizer married Magdalena, born in Tübingen. Brodbeck (March 12, 1649 - June 1716), a daughter of Professor Johann Conrad Brotbeck . The marriage produced seven children: Johann Ulrich IV. (* 1673, † 1730), Georg Konrad (* 1675), Johann Eberhard (* 1677, † 1753), Luise Tabitha (* 1679), Gottfried (* 1682), Regina Barbara (* 1685) and Andreas Gottlieb (* 1687).

He is considered the founder of a family of theologians in Württemberg : His son Johann Ulrich Pregizer IV. (1673–1730) was a pastor and deacon a. a. in Nürtingen , his great-grandson Christian Gottlob Pregizer founded a pietistic community that is still widespread in several areas of Württemberg today , which are called "Pregizerians" after Pregizer.

Pregizer wrote a. a. a detailed genealogy of the Württemberg Princely House under the title Wirttembergischer Cedern-Baum, or Complete Genealogy of the Hoch-Fürstlichen Haus Wirttemberg: In six parts / From which the best and most proven Autoribus and genealogists ... initially compiled and designed by Weyland D. Johann Ulrich Pregitzern, Hoch-Fürstl. Host Ober- und Justiz-Rath… Nachmahls elaborated And increased with historical notes… From his eldest son, same name… After the same year 1730.
