Johann Daniel Friedrich Rumpf (* 1758 in Assenheim , † 1838 in Berlin ) was one of the popular scientific authors of the Enlightenment .

Life

Johann Daniel Friedrich Rumpf was born in 1758 (according to another version, 1766) in Assenheim ( County Solms-Rödelheim , today Wetterau ). After a short employment with the Solmian government, he entered the Prussian military service, from which he switched to the civil service there. Rumpf belonged to the so-called subaltern civil servants , but rose because of his services to the court councilor . In 1820 he described himself as an "expediting secretary to the Royal Government of Berlin". He died in Berlin in 1838 (according to other sources in 1837 or 1839).

Rumpf has published popular science in many fields in order to educate a larger audience. From today's perspective, in addition to his quasi-travel guides, the law of the Prussian state officials is of particular importance, the first independent presentation of the Prussian civil service law; Although the text is poorly systematized, it serves as a source of knowledge of the civil service law after the reform period, in the early March .
