Johann Eberhard Ihle

Johann Eberhard Ihle (born June 5, 1727 in Esslingen , † January 17, 1814 in Nuremberg ) was a German painter .

The offspring of a Württemberg painter family received first lessons from his father and settled in Nuremberg in 1749, where he acquired citizenship in 1756. From 1751 Ihle was a member of the Nuremberg Painting Academy , whose director he became in 1771 and remained until 1811.

Ihle's work ranges from Rococo to Classicism . He was one of the most important Nuremberg portrait painters of the late 18th century.
